West Avenue Reconstruction Project to Begin

Northdale Construction of Albertville, Minnesota will begin street reconstruction on West Avenue (between College Avenue/7th Street to Maple Street) beginning Monday, June 16th. Crews will be moving on to the project, setting up construction area traffic signs, and detour traffic signs. The street surface will be removed to begin reconstruction of water mains, water services, sanitary sewer mains, sanitary sewer services, storm sewer, aggregate base, concrete curb & gutters, and bituminous pavement as part of the City of Red Wing’s 2014 West Avenue Reconstruction Project. Construction of Faribault, Minnesota will begin the second phase of the Burnside area street improvements on Cannon Bottom Road (from TH 61 to 235 feet northerly of Bridge No. 25549), Moundview Drive (Fronting BIC/Norwood Promotional Products), and South Service Drive (from Tyler Road South to 500 feet westerly) beginning July 16th. Red Wing Issues $1,835,000 in General Obligation Bonds to Finance Public Infrastructure Renewal Projects

On Monday, October 24, 2011 the City Council authorized the sale and award of $1,835,000 in General Obligation bonds to assist in the financing of $5,548,314 in public infrastructure renewal projects including the East 5th Street Bridge replacement project, the 2011 Street Reconstruction projects and the Fire Station roof replacement project. The financing for the projects include $3,000,000 in state bridge bonding funds and other locally sourced funds.
