Heritage Preservation Commission Seeks Nominees
For 2013 Preservation Awards of Merit
The Red Wing Heritage Preservation Commission is seeking nominees from the community for their annual Preservation Awards of Merit. Each year the Heritage Preservation Commission presents the Awards of Merit to individuals, institutions, and businesses who have been involved in exceptional local historic preservation projects. The Red Wing Heritage Preservation Commission will present this year’s Awards of Merit during National Preservation Month in May.

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Red Wing by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its 2011 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

R.A.W. Construction of Faribault, Minnesota will begin the second phase of the Burnside area street improvements on Cannon Bottom Road (from TH 61 to 235 feet northerly of Bridge No. 25549), Moundview Drive (Fronting BIC/Norwood Promotional Products), and South Service Drive (from Tyler Road South to 500 feet westerly) beginning July 16th. On Monday, October 24, 2011 the City Council authorized the sale and award of $1,835,000 in General Obligation bonds to assist in the financing of $5,548,314 in public infrastructure renewal projects including the East 5th Street Bridge replacement project, the 2011 Street Reconstruction projects and the Fire Station roof replacement project. The financing for the projects include $3,000,000 in state bridge bonding funds and other locally sourced funds.
