Postponement of the 2014 Fourth of July Fireworks in Red Wing, MN June 25, 2014 Mississippi Alumination has worked very hard to raise enough money to have the best fireworks display Red Wing has ever seen.  They have invested in new automated firing equipment and have an incredible show loaded and ready to fire.  Unfortunately ...this year, Mother Nature has other plans!  Due to high waters and flooding, we are unable to fire the display on the 4th of July from our site on the river.  Other options have been looked at, but with limited time, we are not able to redesign a show for another …

Portion of South Park Street Closed for Water Main Repairs

The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be closing a portion of South Park Street beginning Thursday, June 26th for the emergency repair of a water main. The area affected is the portion of South Park Street between 13th and 15th Streets and will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of the project. The work is being done by Public Works crews and the closure is expected to last approximately two days, weather permitting. The road will be reopened as soon as the work has been completed. Traffic control will be in place. Drivers are encouraged to avoid this area. City crews appreciate the coop…

Red Wing Water Park CLOSED Due To Flooding

Red Wing Water Park is CLOSED until further notice due to high water and flooding on the Mississippi River.   The National Weather Service predicts the Mississippi River will be at 15.3 feet by Sunday Morning, June 29th.  Watch here for more details on reopening.   Updates on the flooding are being posted on the City of Red Wing's website at www.red-wing.org

The Mississippi river reading as of 6:30 a.m. today is at 13.43 feet. The National Weather Service predicts the Mississippi river to be at 15.3 feet by Sunday morning, June 29th. Roads closed as of today include:   Levee Road between Jackson and Broad Streets, Ikata Drive, East 5th Street beneath the railroad track bridge, Sturgeon Lake Road at Frazier Street and the end of Collischan Road. Colvill Park was closed on Sunday June 22nd and includes the Colvill Aquatic Center, all shelters and the boat launch. Bay Point Park will be closed to the public starting Wednesday June 25th. The Make it OK campaign has partnered with Twin Cities Public Television, Inc. (TPT) and created amazing videos on Mental Illness.   Dale Hanson, President of NAMI Goodhue County, was featured in one of these videos. The video is called "Make It OK: Families and Mental Illness. FLOODING UPDATE - Park & Roadway Closures

Due to the recent rainfall, flooding is anticipated.  The Mississippi river reading as of 9:00 a.m. today is at 11.48 feet.  The National Weather Service predicts the Mississippi river to be at 14.3 feet by next Thursday, June 26th. Roads closed as of today include Levee Road between Jackson and Broad Streets, Ikata Drive, East 5th Street beneath the bridge, Sturgeon Lake Road at Frazier Street and the end of Collischan Road. West Avenue Reconstruction Project to Begin

Northdale Construction of Albertville, Minnesota will begin street reconstruction on West Avenue (between College Avenue/7th Street to Maple Street) beginning Monday, June 16th. Crews will be moving on to the project, setting up construction area traffic signs, and detour traffic signs.
