A portion of Levee Road will be closed during the week of March 3rd. The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be closing a portion of Levee Road on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 for sewer cleaning. The area affected is the portion between Jackson Street and Broad Street. Access will be limited to local traffic, with thru traffic prohibited. The road will be open during the evening hours.

The City of Red Wing announces that it is now accepting proposals for the completion of a Historic Structure Report (HSR) and scope of work description for the future restoration of the G.A. Carlson Lime Kiln and a Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) for Barn Bluff. The proposed HSR and CLR project will require the services of a qualified historic preservation architect and a qualified archaeology team.

(February 20, 2014, Red Wing, Minn.) – In anticipation of receiving more than six inches of snow in the snow event currently underway, the City of Red Wing is declaring a snow emergency.
This snow emergency will take effect at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, February 21. According to the guidelines established in the Snow & Ice Control Policy, all vehicles parked on city streets designated as Snow Emergency Routes must be moved and must remain off these streets until noon on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 21. City offices will be closed on Monday, February 17th, 2014 in observance of Presidents Day. City Hall, Public Works and the Solid Waste Campus will all be closed on Monday. All offices will be open the remainder of the week during their regular business hours.

Due to the extreme cold temperatures and the depth of the frost in the ground, some water service lines may be at risk of freezing. The owner of the property is responsible for all water and sewer lines between the home or business and the main lines in the street. This is where the freezing is likely to occur.
The City of Red Wing is reminding customers to regularly check the temperature of the water coming out of the faucet in their homes or businesses. The Red Wing City Council and the Commissioners of the Red Wing Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) held a joint meeting at the Foot Room of the Public Library on February 3, 2014. The purpose of the joint meeting was to go over the 2014 HRA Strategic Plan and receive feedback from the City Council. The HRA has been working on its new strategic plan for several months and is close to finalizing the document. On February 3, 2014, at approximately 2:16 AM, Dispatch received a suspicious person/activity in the vicinity of the Parkway Motel, 3425 Highway 61. Upon arrival at that location, the first responding officer observed two personnel sitting in a Tan Buick Century. The occupants of the vehicle then noticed the officer on foot in the parking lot and started backing the vehicle toward the officer. The vehicle left the area on Carol Lane and was located at 319 Hillcrest Drive, stuck on a snow bank.
