On August 12, 2013 City Council approved a residential survey that will be conducted by Decision Resources. There will be 400 individuals interviewed. The survey questions are in three general categories. The first section is to gauge satisfaction with different basic services; the second section is focused on the golf course; and the third section is general information. The survey will take on average 5-10 minutes. Phone number selection is done by random digit dialing on the landline, cell phone area codes, and prefixes.

The Red Wing Police Department is urging motorists to drive attentively and be ready for school buses, especially for children exiting school buses.
Last year in Minnesota, there were 553 bus crashes that resulted in seven deaths (none of which were student bus occupants) and 211 injuries (of which 65 were student bus occupants). In Minnesota, school buses make at least 10,000 school bus trips daily. The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be closing a portion of Woodland Drive on Thursday, August 22, 2013 for the repair of a sewer main. The area affected is the portion in the 1600 block of Woodland Drive to the intersection of Ridgewood Lane. Work is expected to be completed, including road repairs on August 23rd.
This closure is expected to last for two days, reopening as soon as the work has been completed. Traffic control will be in place. Drivers are encouraged to avoid this area.

On August 20th at 9:48 am, the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting that a person had fallen off the north trail of Barn’s Bluff with unknown injuries.
Firefighter/paramedics were on the scene within 2 ½ minutes of receiving the call and arrived at the victim approximately 15 minutes later with rope rescue equipment. Two RWFD Paramedics descended the slope with medical and spinal immobilization equipment via ropes and harnesses to initiate patient care.

On Monday, August 12, 2013, the Red Wing City Council approved two solar electric projects for 2013 – City Hall and the Public Works Maintenance Shop. With this approval, the City of Red Wing will continue the construction of a total of six solar projects that will have a capacity to produce 217kW of electricity. This would be the equivalent of the electricity used for 30 to 40 single family homes for one year.
