Heritage Preservation Commission Seeks Nominees
For 2013 Preservation Awards of Merit
The Red Wing Heritage Preservation Commission is seeking nominees from the community for their annual Preservation Awards of Merit. Each year the Heritage Preservation Commission presents the Awards of Merit to individuals, institutions, and businesses who have been involved in exceptional local historic preservation projects. The Red Wing Heritage Preservation Commission will present this year’s Awards of Merit during National Preservation Month in May.

At its February 25, 2013 Red Wing City Council meeting the Council approved Mayor Egan’s recommendation to appoint Lynn Clayton to the Sustainability Commission as an Non-Voting Advisory Member. Mr. Clayton’s term that will expire on December 31, 2015.
In 2010, the Minnesota Legislature created the Council on Local Results and Innovation (“CLRI”). In February of 2011 the CLRI released a standard set of ten performance measures for cities that will aid residents, taxpayers and state and local elected officials in determining the efficacy of cities in providing services, and measure resident’s opinions of those services.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) and Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) are hosting a third public listening session for the Red Wing Bridge Project. The project includes the Highway #63 (Eisenhower) Bridge over the Mississippi River and the Highway #63 Bridge over Highway #61, as well as the approach roadways on both sides of the river.

Red Wing City Council met in workshop session on February 8 and 9. Items of discussion included:
Review of staff 2012 accomplishments;
Council policy discussions on Council presidency term, role of the Sustainability Commission, community use of Channel 6; City Council committees update including sidewalk committee, events task force; and
Project discussion on Open Space Plan, Old West Main Street revitalization, Main Street improvement project, and Levee Road project.
The Red Wing Housing and Redevelopment Authority has issued its 2012 Annual Report. It is available on their website: www.redwinghra.org as well. This annual report is an overview of the HRA actions and events that took place in 2012. The HRA wants to thank everyone who made last year a success.
