Red Wing Police Department Warns of On-Line Ads

The Red Wing Police Department is encouraging the citizens of Red Wing to use caution when responding to on-line advertising on the internet, such as Craigslist.  Recent cases reported to the Red Wing Police Department involve people responding to ad’s on Craigslist that have resulted in them being victimized.  Reports of theft, vehicle tampering, and sexual assault are currently being investigated.  The Red Wing Police Department reminds it’s citizens that they should  not  meet at private locations or provide their personal address to  individuals they have met thro…

City Offices Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday

Thursday, November 22, 2012, ALL CITY OFFICES will be CLOSED in observance of the Thanksgiving Day Holiday.  Offices include:  City Hall, Public Works, Solid Waste Campus and the Public Library.   Friday, November 23, 2012, City Hall and the Public Works Building will be CLOSED.  The Public Library and the Solid Waste Campus will be open.   Refuse and Recycling will be on their normal schedule for the week WITH THE EXCEPTION of THURSDAY'S ROUTE which will be collected on Friday.   If you have questions regarding the refuse and recycling collection schedule for this wee…

Holiday Lights Disposal

The Solid Waste Campus is pleased to announce that they will be accepting holiday lights and old extension cords for disposal at no charge during the holiday season.   Beginning November 23rd, during the Holiday Stroll, holiday lights and old extension cords may be dropped off for disposal in front of City Hall at 315 West Fourth Street.   Once the Holiday Stroll is complete, the drop off site will be moved to the Solid Waste Campus at 1873 Bench Street, during their normal business hours. Free disposal of these items will continue through January 15th, 2013.

Red Wing Firefighter/Paramedics Conducting Technical Rescue/Helicopter Extraction Training

(November 7, 2012, Red Wing, Minn.) – The Red Wing Fire Department, in conjunction with the Minnesota State Patrol - Aviation Division, St. Paul Fire Department and Air Rescue Systems from Ashland, Oregon will be conducting technical rescue training on Barn Bluff. Red Wing Fire Department personnel will utilize their technical rescue skills and equipment to safely access, stabilize, package and relocate patients with simulated injuries to a suitable extraction site. Local Option Sales Tax Information

On November 6th, citizens will be asked to vote on whether to establish a local option sales tax. The Red Wing City Council approved the following referendum question: Shall the City of Red Wing be authorized (a) to impose a temporary sales and use tax of one-half of one percent and an excise tax of $20 per retail sale of a motor vehicle for a period of up to 20 years and (b) to issue bonds in an aggregate amount not to exceed $14.88 million, plus the cost of issuing the bonds and funding the debt service reserve, to finance a portion of the cost of acquisition and betterment of any or all of the following p…
