The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be closing the portion of Levee Road from the bulkheads west to Withers Harbor Drive beginning Tuesday, September 4th. The road will be closed to traffic for the US Army Corps of Engineers to do emergency dredging of the Mississippi River. The dredging will include the removal of approximately 20,000 to 40,000 yards of material to keep the river open to barge traffic. The work is expected to be completed in 2-4 weeks depending on the amount of material that will need to be dredged.

(August 28, 2012, Red Wing, Minn.) - The Red Wing Public Library will be closed for roof reconstruction beginning Saturday, September 1, 2012. The library will reopen when a safe environment is assured. We anticipate the work to be completed within three weeks.
There will be no access to the parking spaces and sidewalks adjacent to the library during the closure. A temporary book drop is located at the Sheldon Theater box office Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All due dates are extended beyond September 25, 2012 and no fines will accrue during the closure.

The Sustainability Commission Workshop scheduled for 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28th has been cancelled. This workshop will not be re-scheduled
The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be removing storm damaged trees and debris from the roadway within Memorial Park on Tuesday, August 21st. There will be no access to the Park while the project is taking place. We anticipate the work to be completed by the end of the day on Tuesday.

MINNEAPOLIS– Operators shut down Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant to repair a gasket on a pipe flange, while in an unrelated action Tuesday, operators at Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant shut down Unit 1 to repair two diesel generators.
Both shutdowns were accomplished safely. Neither resulted in a radiological release, nor did they pose any danger to members of the public or plant employees.

In response to the storm last night, Friday, August 3, 2012, the city of Red Wing will be accepting wood storm waste at the Solid Waste Campus at 1873 Bench Street free of charge until 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 4. They will also open the Solid Waste Campus on Sunday, August 5 from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM to accept wood storm waste free of charge. The remainder of the week will be normal business hours.

The City of Red Wing Advisory Planning Commission and Red Wing Sustainability Commission conducted a Public Open House and Public Hearing on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Citizens reviewed a draft report that was dated June 20, 2012 and provided comments and discussion about the draft report.
