Red Wing Firefighter / Paramedics Respond to a House Fire

For Immediate Release (November 24th 2011, Red Wing, Minn.) -On November 23rd at 11:44pm the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting a structure fire at 2160 Other Day Rd in Prairie Island.Firefighter/paramedics were on scene within ten minutes of receiving the call and utilized positive pressure fireattack tactics to combat the fire. The primary search of the single story residence was completed and the fire was extinguished approximately fifteen minutes after arrival. City to Consider Adoption of Red Wing Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan

The City Council will consider adoption of the Red Wing Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan at their next meeting scheduled for November 28, 2011. The Red Wing Advisory Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on the draft plan at their meeting conducted on November 15th. David Anderson, a member of Live Healthy Red Wing spoke in favor of adoption of the plan. After discussion, the commission adopted a motion unanimously to recommend that the City Council adopt the Master Plan as an amendment to the City's Comprehensive Plan. SNOW EMERGENCY REMINDER - AVOID THE TOW

Help from drivers is needed to ensure safe passage of streets in winter. The City of Red Wing's snow removal process relies heavily on residents staying informed and being prepared to move vehicles as necessary so snow can be removed from streets safely and efficiently. Quzhou Education Delegation Visit to Red Wing

On Thursday morning, November 10th, Red Wing received a visit from a five-member Chinese Education Delegation hailing from Sister City Quzhou, China. Red Wing and Quzhou are looking to enhance their 20-year relationship by expanding on the educational opportunities that already have led to more than a dozen exchanges. Fall 2011 Yard Waste Clean-Up Dates

  2011 Fall Yard Waste Clean-up Dates Announced Due to the continuing budget crisis, the Public Works Department will not be picking up curbside yard waste from residential areas or providing complimentary yard waste roll-off dumpsters. This decision was made to reduce general fund expenses. Residents can dispose of grass, leaves and compostable or organic yard waste year-round free of charge.  Residents may also dispose of brush at the brush and compost site at the Integrated Solid Waste Management Campus (ISWMC), located at1873 Bench Street, for a charge.  However, these charges will be waive…
