On Monday night, June 27th, at the City of Red Wing Council Meeting, three civilians and public safety officials were formally recognized for efforts that were made to save the life a 56-year old man who had gone into the Mississippi River on May 29th. Two civilians were not able to come to the meeting and they were Steve and Tomi Wilson.

On June 21st, a Community Notification Meeting was held at the Red Wing Public Library, regarding a Level 3 Predatory Offender moving into Red Wing on June 29th. The meeting was held by the Red Wing Police Department along with the Minnesota Department of Corrections to inform citizens about the offender and to provide safety information regarding offenders/offending behavior in general. Since 2001, the annual Amos Owen Award has recognized an individual in the Red Wing community for his/her work in promoting and ensuring others' human rights.
