Portion of Tile Drive Closed From June 13-17, 2011

For Immediate Release May 31, 2011 Portion of Tile Drive Closed From June 13-17, 2011(May 31, 2011, Red Wing, Minn.) - The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be closing a portion of Tile Drive from Withers Harbor Drive to the end of the existing curb and gutter just north of Red Wing Glass. The road will be closed from June 13-17, 2011 for construction of approximately 700 feet of water main. The water main is being constructed to connect the existing water main stubs and provide better water flows and quality to area residents and businesses. Library closed Tuesday, May 24 until Friday, May 27 for upgrades

SELCO, the regional library consortium of which Red Wing Public Library is a member, is performing a significant hardware and software upgrade to its computer systems during the period May 24-26. Because of this upgrade, multiple key library functions will not be available, including checking out items and placing requests, and so we are forced to close during those three days. We have decided to make the best of this unfortunate situation by doing some planned re-working of the childrens' area, as well as a number of other tasks that are difficult to accomplish when we are open. Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Awarded to the City of Red Wing

 The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Red Wing by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its 2009 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Red Wing Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) and Red Wing Downtown Main Street are sponsoring an architectural scavenger hunt to celebrate National Preservation Month in May. Entry forms consisting of a dozen cropped and filtered photos of architectural detailing found in downtown Red Wing are available at various downtown businesses, the Red Wing Downtown Main Street Office, and the City of Red Wing Community Development Building.
