The City of Red Wing routinely flushed hydrants and water mains twice per year. However, the new Water Treatment Facilities have improved the water quality in Red Wing, and as a result the need to flush the hydrants has been reduced to ONCE per year. On May 7th the Red Wing Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) will hold the fourth annual Barn Bluff Day. This event will include a volunteer based cleanup effort in the morning and hiking in the afternoon. Volunteers will help with litter removal, minor trail maintenance, and flower planting at the main trailhead on East Fifth Street. Anyone wishing to participate in the cleanup can meet at the main trailhead parking area on East Fifth Street at 9:00 a.m. and are recommended to bring and wear gloves, long sleeve shirts/jackets, pants, and sturdy footwear. The City of Red Wing has contracted with SPS Infrastructure to make repairs to the three city parking ramps (LaGrange, Studebaker and West Fourth Street). They have completed most of the minor repairs and now need to bead blast the decks and reseal them. The parking ramps will need to be empty while this is being done. Overnight ramp closure has been extended to April 30th at 7:00 a.m. Ramps will be closed from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. each day.
