Free Disposal Of Holiday Greens

Red Wing’s Integrated Solid Waste Management Campus is offering free disposal of holiday trees and greens from January 2 through 16.  The drop off site is located at 1873 Bench Street and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All wire and metal must be removed from these items or they will not be accepted free of charge. (HBC) to obtain federal stimulus grant funding to construct and operate a high-speed, fiber-to-the-premises, broadband network in Red Wing.Several years ago, the City of Red Wing identified many benefits of having a fiber-optic symmetrical network capable of up to one gigabit speeds which would operate on a network available to  residents  and  businesses. City of Red Wing Supports United Way City of Red Wing employees raised $12,188.23, or 102% percent of its $12,000 goal, this year for United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha and Pierce Counties. Most of the money was donated through employee payroll deductions, but $644.75 was raised with the sales of chili, brats and baked goods at the annual city of Red Wing Internal United Way Chili Cook-off. Deer Feeding Ordinance Reminder

Tim Sletten, Chief, Police Department  In 2008, the city of Red Wing passed a ban on the recreational feeding of deer. The ban is part of the deer management program the city implemented to help control the size of the deer herd in Red Wing. The other part of the program that has been in place for a number of years is a controlled harvest, which allows archery hunters to harvest deer in selected areas with special regulations. Red Wing's Dog Park a Reality

Recently, the group of volunteers secured funding for the fence at A.P. Anderson Park, the last step in completing Red Wing's Dog Park. Especially during the holidays, recycling and refuse crews need help from residents to maintain efficiencies and keep routes manageable. With the extra volume of holiday recyclables, the following tips will help reduce the possibility of crews missing pickups and allow them to continue to provide efficient service:Recycling and refuse containers need to be placed at the curb before 6:00 a.m. the day of service.
