Citizen's Academy

The Red Wing Police Department’s Citizens Academy is a community awareness program that offers residents a first hand look at the internal police, fire and emergency management and code enforcement operations. The program provides information about:

• Crime prevention
• Law enforcement services
• Evidence collection, community policing and parking.
• Fire prevention
• Fire suppression
• Emergency management
• Ordinance enforcement

The Academy is structured so attendees learn about public safety and city staff learn from residents. Classes also cover many duties that challenge public safety personnel. The program encompasses a total of 18 hours of presentations from various personnel in the local public safety sector.

Applications are now being taken for the 2011 Citizens Academy, which will begin on October 4th, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  The classes will be held each Tuesday evening for six sessions. Sign up to attend by completing a registration form.
