The Red Wing Harbor Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the Red Wing Port Authority with respect to the management and supervision of all harbors, rivers, the waterfront and all other navigable waters within the city. The Harbor Commission is made up of seven members representing different constituencies as follows: Three members are recommended by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Three members are appointed by the Port Authority President and confirmed by the Port Authority Board. One member is recommended by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council and by the Port Authority Board. The commission meets on the first Tuesday of every other month at 7:30 a.m. in the City Council Chambers.

The purpose of the Port Authority is to act as the city’s primary economic development agency and administer waterfront leases for recreation and commercial purposes. The Port Authority represents the city’s continued interest in job creation and economic growth. Meetings are on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
